Been out deer hunt the last two days around Madison. Without the dog I have kicked out six roosters the first day and a dozen today. The ratio has been about 50/50. Plenty of birds still to be had. All was public ground that's been hammered by deer hunters.

good report man... i was told them guys in SD dont bother to hunt deer or hit the public lands hard for deer??? i figured there is still some deer hunters out there doing there thing & that was B/S it opened last saturday & i herd fro locals to avoid the deer opener if i want to pheasant hunt it maid sense to me...

did you get your deer??? i seen loads & loads on public lands they had sugar beat & corn food plots for them & nice tree rows & apple trees it was deer heaven if nobody hunted that area for deer there missing out!!! almost got ran over by a small buck as well...

I always used to hunt the day after Thanksgiving for five days as my 2nd trip. The only difference I noticed from the first trip over was a few more vehicles on the back roads during the day. Never really impacted our hunt. Did that for at least 10 years in a row.

No deer. Missed a really nice buck for the second day in a row. Went to the range and realized my scope is floating. Time to pull out the back up and get it done.

Put in my first day of serious bird hunting. Hunted from 230 till 430. Kicked up 9 roosters and about twice as many hens on public land hat gets hunted about twice a day. Mostly walked deer trails through cat tails. Only one came out of easy walking and the rest cattails
