I am not currently training any young dogs. I will occasionally trap pigeons to work the dogs and I have a new source for quail that a young man has started. I will buy some of those to work the dogs and in hopes the young man can (hopefully) realize a break even point on raising the birds. I have not been to a preserve - I have no real objections to one and if I had younger dogs, I probably would work them on some birds.
