Quail calls.

Does anyone hunt bobwhites using a quail call? I often wonder if this would be helpful after a covey flushes. Are they easy to use?


Useful or gimmicky.

I've used a Thomas quail call before. It's doesn't seem the same from one covey to the next. Some birds are vocal pretty quick after you scatter them and some aren't.

Seem to be more vocal when you scatter a covey later in the day or when it's really windy.

This is just my experience. It sounds good, but I wouldn't depend on one for success. I dropped mine in the weeds last season and haven't missed it....

They were very vocal in November. Now I can hardly hear them.

I bought a hawk screamer and a quail call. Not many quail the past few years, so haven't used the quail call. Like the hawk screamer. Broke at end of season. Now looking to replace it with an electronic hawk screamer. Can anyone make a recommendation?

Started finding quail, will try quail call. Wouldn't expect them to be vocal when cover is thinning.
