Problems with Danner Pronghorns leaking?

I know that Danner makes a very good boot, but I am having problems with my feet getting wet? I am even on my second pair of Danner Pronghorns and my feet are damp and wet even after a light rain... I am thinking about Setters next, everyone was helpful with the last suggestions, but I just thought I would share the information about the Danners, because I still have a hard time believing my feet are getting wet! Any suggestions once again would be great!

Good Luck Huntin,

Jake

I can't give you any feedback on the pronghorns, Jake. I thought I was having the same problem with my gortex lined boots. After paying closer attention to my problem though, I realized my boots weren't leaking. What was happening was the gortex liner was not allowing my foot moisture to escape efficiently enough, allowing the sweat to build up in my boots. I always thought they were leaking, when in reality the moisture was not able to escape. I tried another brand of gortex lined boots and had the same problem. I am obviously in the minority, as I have several friends that love gortex lined boots. I went back to non gortex boots and treat them like in the "old days". I don't think I will have gortex lined boots again.

Are you wearing cotton or wool socks?

With gortex you have got to wear the man-made fiber socks or the gortex can't work properly. Cotton & wool will not wick away the moisture from from feet so the gortex can work. I am sure that the boots are not leaking but it's your feet that is sweating. I had the same problem till I learned this lesson.

Danner Frontiers

I jsut a pair of Danner Frontiers - 400gram insulate- and wore them out yesterday for the first time. Hunted over eight hours, walked through streams and snow the entire day. My feet stayed warm and dry the entire day. I am a believer in the reputation that Danner has built and what people have told me about their boots. I highly recommend this boot to anyone.

Wet Boots Wet Feet

Try wicking socks. If you're wearing cotton, your feet will always be damp and cold when cold and hot when hot.
