pre-season work

Just like the pros need pre-season, so do the dogs. I got a late start this morning and the dogs got hot fast. I only ran them for 30-40 minutes. Nittany had a point on a quail in a field and the bird ended up flushing and flying over Blitz's head and landed 10 yards in front of him. Blitz stopped and pointed the running bird. The bird ran out of view and I let the dogs work the scent and Blitz found him first.

Nittany came from a different direction and pointed from a different position:

The morning ended with a cool off in the pond.

In another week I'll start working them on some released hen pheasants and with a little luck they can retrieve some doves in the evening. Looking forward to another good season in PA.

Nice post and pics. Thanks.
