I was wondering ever since my prairie chicken trip back in September if they make any noises. With all the times I flushed birds in those 3 days I don't really remember much noise coming from them other than wingbeats. I know a sharptailed prairie grouse makes a vocalization, but I didn't see any of them on my trip. The reason I'm asking is the game warden told me "they'll cluck like a chicken" when flushed, or you "will hear a few clucks as they fly away." For people that have hunted prairie chicken with a dog(as opposed to pass shooting) what have you heard?
P.S. This question is related to fall season, as I know that male prairie chickens make a lot of vocalizations "booming" in the spring.
