Pointers for a buddy

I have a friend who has just taken up hunting and would like to get on some pheasants. He lives in the Twin Cities but is willing to travel. He has some weekends planned to come down to Iowa and hunt with me.

Any suggestions on where he could go in MN in the meantime. Maybe even someone to show him the ropes. He tried a couple public spots last weekend southwest of the Cities but he said they were all packed with people.
