I grew up hunting pheasants and quail in northwest Missouri and have continued to hunt them in recent years. The lack of habitat and wet springs have really put a damper on the numbers in the past few years. Pheasants are almost non existent and if you see one along the road it is a rare surprise. The number of birds around today is extremley disappointing compared to where they were just 5 to 6 years ago.

I remember in the early 80's when the conservation department released pheasants in Schuyler and Scotland counties. We had hunt able populations for several years after that. The past few years the chances of even seeing a bird is rare. Maybe time for another stocking effort. Maybe trade bobcats for birds.
