Pheasants just know how to torment you...

In 2008 I got into pheasant hunting. I have the privilege of hunting 800-1200 acres of private land. Not great land, but its still land, and has held some pheasants according to the farmers next door. I walked this field for 2 years....2008-2009:2009-2010 and I saw 0 pheasant when walking this land. I have other options so I didn't just hunt there, but on this land...I saw nothing. I didnt hunt at all in 2010-2011 season because I had surgery 11/10 and was out for the season. I was cleared to go shooting and stuff by my DR so I go out to the land to do some shooting. Figure throw some clays, work on my handguns, and have some fun with the AR. I pull up to the land and begin my walk into the middle where you can do some fun shooting and what happens? About 8 freaking pheasant pop up and fly away. There were at least 4-5 roosters, and the rest were hens. REALLY?! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FREAKING KIDDING ME!

Dang nabbit.....2 years and nothing, 1 fun shooting trip outside of season and there are a bunch of them.

maybe next year!

Hi Joe, I would say you had a good day outdoors, you saw 8 truly wild pheasants (with great potential to reproduce) on private land that you have access to next season.
Whenever I see healthy wild pheasants in the spring or summer time its a good day for me. Keep us posted.

lol....isn't that just the way it goes my friend? Honestly did you expect anything different?

It's like those days you head out deer hunting and all you'll see is squirrels, rabbits, pheasants, etc. Go out hunting squirrels, rabbits, pheasants, etc and all you'll see is deer:D Makes you wonder a bit:rolleyes:

That is a Pheasant. They know how to do that stuff all the time. I think the Hens give them school lessons on that stuff while they are chicks. But it sure made your day didn't it?........Bob

That's the game. you go hunting elk you see deer. you go hunting pheasants you see quail that aren't legal for another 2 weeks. You go hunting grouse and the pheasants that are out of season , are thick as thieves. That's the game.:D

Of course it made my day. It means this season has a chance and that there are some birds in colorado. I hope they reproduce and i didn't interrupt their swingers fest. They are beautiful birds and amazing to watch in flight. I just want to put one in my slow cooker. lol
