Pheasant Jerky

I am headed for South Dakota and usually like to grind some of my more shot up birds into Jerky. I usually have some down time at night in the rented farm house and was thining about bringing my grinder and dehydrator with me. I'm wondering from a legality standpoint I'd be ok given the laws about having a foot or wing to transport. I'm not trying to skirt my posession limit or anything of that nature. Just want to utilize my free time and not worry about having to deal with the freezer space.
 
I'm not wondering about posession so much, more if I could have an issue with a warden for transporting the bird without a food or head (that would make some nasty looking jerky).
 
It is my understanding that once processed into food no rules apply. As far as they're concerned you could have made that out of chicken.
