The Central Iowa Gun Dog Club (CIGDC) is sponsoring a pheasant hunt this Saturday, March 21st (kick-off at 12:30) in the Des Moines area. As a member my cost is $35 (club pays $15) for three planted pheasants. It's not wild bird hunting but it's close enough as I had not been out since the last weekend of the season and it's a great opportunity to work my shorthair and spend time in the fields with like-minded dog owners. It's open to non-members at a cost of $50. Also on March 25th, 5:30-7:30 there will be a "Meet & Greet" at Doc's Hunt Club near Adel where our club meets for training night. The purpose of the M & G is to interest new members. The club is very laid back and we have alot of fun with training night, fun trials, sporting clays, 5-stand and various hunts from time to time. Birds (quail, chukar & pheasant) are available for a fee, the club has a variety of equipment available to use at no cost. This includes manual & remote bird launchers, bird bags, etc.
