Pheasant Country Antique Sign

I recently acquired a very unique sign and I am trying to track down its origin. The sign is yellow with red and black lettering with a large pheasant outlined in black in the background. The sign reads "Pheasant Country" in large red letters at the top, "Spare the Horses and Save the Birds" just below and also in red letters, the "Nesting Strips not Mowed Until Hatching Season Ends" in black letters under that, and finally "Dept. of Highways" "Dept. of Game, Fish and Parks" at the bottom. The sign is approximately 4?x4? in size and is made of wood. I would greatly appreciate any help that you may be able to provide.

I'd be happy to email a picture upon request. I tried to post here but was unable do to the size restriction.

Thanks!

Someone on here knows!! Post it up in the South Dakota,North Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa forums..Someone will know!! Awesome sign!!!:10sign:

I am moving this to the lounge. I think it will get you the answer there. cool sign.

Thanks again guys! I thought the sign was awesome as well...not expecting a find like that at a wrecker service estate sale!

I took a picture of it to the South Dakota Pheasants Forever state meeting in Mitchell and showed it to lots of people from across the state and no one knew anything about it. It's a totally cool sign they all agreed.

You could send the picture to the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks and see if they know anything about it.

Thanks again for all of the feedback. I'll try reaching out to SD game and fish. I will let y'all know what I find out.

I found a much older guy here in the Platte SD area that remembers seeing these signs waaaaaaaaay back and thinks it is a very nice find.

What is surprising to me if the sign is dated that old is that it does not have any holes in it!! Maybe it never got installed or it was up for just a small amount of time... There is not much of a Patina on it and in great shape!
