About a month ago I moved back to where I am originally from, eastern Iowa. I am working a job that will probably be transferring me in a couple of months...hopefully to a state that has birds! Anyway, this evening on the way home from work I saw a flock of 8 partridge! Haven't seen one of those since I used to occasionally shoot them when I was in high school (about 12 years ago). Poor guys ran into a mowed ditch and then flew back across the road into a bean field. There is no habitat anywhere close to where I saw them.

Anyway, I figured bird sightings in Iowa are rare enough that I better report this one.

Good to here! Partridge due well in dry weather and Iowa has been dry.It also only takes 5% of the landscape in grass to support partridge and thats not much grass at all and with the easy winter last year birds should be more abundant this year. I hope I get a chance at those this year.:)

to be honest them little huns dont need much in the way of cover and you cant get to dry for a hun lol my hunting buddy who has a farm east of spirit lake area said he had seen 3 coveys in 1 short drive around his farm go north back into MN about 2-3 wks ago he knows i love them little guys so he told me... i have always herd of huns in IA just not down in the SE part??? the only good thing comeing out of the drought this yr is the amount of huns im hearing area being seen man i cant wait to hopefully get a crack at some this season...???
