Opening day pressure Wakefield area

This will be my second year hunting the Kansas opener. Last year, I had no idea where to go. This year, I've got several places scouted near the corners of Geary/Dickinson/Clay counties. I also have few places in mind North of Wakefield that are non-toxic shot only areas. What kind of hunter pressure can I expect in these areas opening morning? I'm leaning toward heading to the non-toxic shot only areas first thinking there will be less hunters interested in shooting steel. Am I wrong? What would you all suggest?

That is probably a good bet. Opening weekend is the pits. The locals hunt WIHA areas first, then move onto their private stuff latter. I skip the opener now days, tired of driving around trying to find some Walk-in areas that arn't covered with orange, and tired of picking up everybody's Keystone light cans.

Good luck.

I gurantee tommorow those places are going to be packed! I hunt the WIHA around wakefield and a lot of those places have people every weekend throughout the season. I think your best bet would be the steel shot place. I'm going to go up by green, hopefully it won't be as bad.

Wakefield was packed as expected, there was even like 4 trucks at a little WIHA directly south of Wakefield that NEVER has anyone. I even saw someone pulling into Green city park to hunt that last night!
