I was fortunate to hunt in ND for three days. On Sunday and Monday the temps were in the 70's, which was hard on the dogs. Fortunately, the limits came quickly. Today (Tue) the wakeup temp was 42 with a HARD wind, making the birds extra jumpy.

For the first two days, the Citori 16 worked well. Fiocchi Golden Pheasant 7 1/2's did 'em in with only the bottom barrel (I/C) engaged. Today, the conditions suggested the Maxus 12 with Federal PF Wing-Shok HV 6's would be best, and it was the right choice.

The area hunted had a recent hailstorm which might have explained fewer birds seen so early in the season.
