NM Elk for Kansas Pheasant?

First-ever post here. Getting ready to take my son to SW Kansas for his first Pheasant hunt. I've been hunting the SW part of the state (off and on) for about 20 yrs. and am looking forward to introducing him to one of my favorite past-times! He turns 12 on Jan. 17th and I'd love to get him on some quality private land for his first time (It will probably just be the two of us). If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be glad to share 20+ years of Northern New Mexico elk hunting experience!

What a deal that is for someone!

I'd take ya up on it in a heartbeat but have no contacts in SW KS at all. But sure would love to go on a NM elk hunt!

Thanks anyway Duckn66. If you ever get the urge to apply, drop me a line. We are very fortunate to have the big-game here but there's NOTHING like a late-season pheasant flush. It takes me less than 5 hrs. to drive from Santa Fe to Elkhart and will probably hunt north of the grasslands then east toward Hugoton. There's plenty of WIHA around there and the birds should be bunched up pretty tight.....Just need to get the dog to find 'em and hope they're within gun range! Good luck with the duck.

You should do well in that area. Your lucky to live where you are. Been in that area alot riding my Harley and it is beautiful.
