New training area!

I just found an area in Firestone with about 30 phez in it that i seen tonight and it looks like they've been using this area consistently for awhile now! I think I'll hit it once a week with the pup for a some quick training sessions on some wild birds! I wish I could hunt it, I could have shot my limit in about 10 minutes tonight! :thumbsup: But I'm happy I have an area close by to work the pup!
 
The other thing to consider is if it is private land. I'm pretty familiar with the area and I don't know of any state land that has access, but maybe I'm wrong.
 
Its not private, but its too close to buildings to hunt! If you are familiar with Firestone and you happen to see a guy running a tri-color English Setter that's me and the pup! :thumbsup: and that's the area I'm talking about!:)
 
Lol..... if you know that spot then we should coordinate days to trian. You trian one day a week and I'll use it another day of the week, but we only use it once a week! Deal?
 
A little pocket of birds like that can teach a pup a lot. My hunting buddy is 3 1/2 now and I don't consider this the season for training ;)

What breed and age is your pup? Give me a shout if you want to get your pup some work with another dog.
 
Hunter1971, I have spoken with you before, how is your season going with the pup and where is this training spot, I have looked around the area and have seen an occasional bird but nothing with those kinds of numbers and I am always looking for somewhere closer than where I go, pm me with the location if you want to let me have a day of the week :)
 
Yea, how you doing? Things are coming along with the pup, just doing the things that our trainer has recommended for his first year of wild bird chasing! At times it's frustrating, but what do you do? He's a pup! :confused:

:confused: I'm feeling violated!!! I know it's not my personal area but for the longest time I was the only one using it and then all of a sudden it's being used all the time now! Seen a guy and his brittney coming out of it tonight, oh well go ahead and pound it, at least I can say that there used to be birds there!! :thumbsup:

Training Ground

I know exactly how you feel. When I lived in MN I had a field at the end of my block that butted up against a golf course. There were about 15 pheasants that wintered there in the cattails. Just from people seeing me out there and flushing birds it started to get pounded and then the birds were gone. Occassionally I put up a bird, but nothing like the days of walking the field for an hour and pushing a dozen birds a block from my house. At least you had a few days of paradise.

+1. I agree with that! Just look at the amount of Non Members vs Members at any given time. It outweighs us by alot. They are just lurking for info. Next time be hush hush. I live in Frederick and don't even know where that spot is :D.
