Hello everyone!
My name is Boyd and I am from N.W. Iowa.
I hunt mostly public land with my 5 1/2 year old female Lab Missy.
(I didn't name her)
My 13 1/2 year old Lab, Duke is retired now. He will still get out for a few hours this season, but it's time for him to stay on the porch.
Missy and I first met when she was a six month old pup.
I was at a cross road in my life.
I had lost my job and had returned to school.
My Lab Max died of Cancer during the hunting season that same year.
I saw an ad in a local online classified section.
I stopped one day after class and Missy ended up coming home with me.
It was almost like she was just sitting there waiting for me to come and get her.
The ad said "Free 6 mo. old female lab."
Nobody else had answered the ad due to a mistyped phone number.
I figured out the prefix by the town listed and knew the right number to call.
She has been a joy ever since.
Max's shoes were tough ones to fill. He was the best dog I ever hunted over.
Missy is coming along nicely though and she has a couple of good years of hunting under her belt now.
Last year, everything really "clicked" for her and she did well.
I am a machinist by trade and am fortunate to have a great job, working for a great company.
I've been hunting pheasants for over 40 years now and hope to hunt for many more.
