Hello everyone. I'm new on the forum but not to pheasant hunting. Although here in central PA we get mostly stocked birds. I'm trying to get as much info as I can about hunting the midwest. I have 3 friends from high school and what has mostly kept us in touch over the past 25 years is our pheasant season. We'd like to plan a trip to the midwest to hunt public lands with our dogs. I was hoping to get some tips from you all. This is some thing we have talked about doing for years. Any info would atleast give me a place to start.

We were talking about Kansas in the fall of '10. One of the guys was there one before and said how much he liked it.

Welcome to UPH, We are happy to have you here. Drop by often.........Bob

There are several guys on here who live in Kansas and could help you out pretty easily. You may want to post something under the Kansas area for this as well.

RRip, welcome, you will find alot of help here. Just keep pestering us. I hunt Kansas alot, but I don't live there . There are 10 or so gents on here that live there and are more knowledgeable. It is a little slow this time of year.

Kansas has over 1.1 million acres of private land enrolled in the Walk In Hunting program. Go to the KDWP website for details. There is no fee -- other than the usual hunting license -- for access and detailed maps with GPS coordinates make it easy to find. A super smart guy on here uses Google Earth to actually look at walk-in spots. He found an isolated field of milo stalks not visible from any road in the middle of a big patch of grassland and had the hunting of his life on it.

Welcome to the forum! We have a lot of fun around here but the education and information is what keeps folks coming back. Lots of helpful guys on here, especially from KS. Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you. I'd prefer to give out the more specific information via pms. Come on out to KS, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
