New of the year survival?

Peak hatch period can vary by region or area, but where I am in Central MN the hatching seems to occur in early to mid June. So my guess is they aren't hatched quite yet. Could use a week of dry weather at some point here. We get rain every few days it seems. At least there will plenty of bugs to eat.

The biologists in Kansas consistently estimate the "peak hatch" around June 10. The data come from the broods observed during roadside counts in August. Here's the chart from last year's survey results:

The "peak" looks a little sharper than I remember from previous years' surveys. Regardless, there are likely chicks on the ground already, at least in Kansas.
