New Member going to KS In Jan.

Hi guys I'm new to this site it seems very informative and also nice people. This is a picture of my Springer in ND 2 years ago, he's 4 now been out west 4 times already, I usually go to ND early and late always just him and me chasing the wily old Roosters, with a change in jobs can't get time off until after the first of the year, so me and my guy are trying Kansas in Jan. I have thought about Kansas before to extend the season but haven't been able to swing it, I'm talking my SIL with he has never hunted before this year so I hope it goes well and we get into some birds, he has gone with me a few times here in WI but we never seem to get into birds when he's with, the birds can be quite spotty. We are going to North Central Kansas it sounds like there are birds if you work for them, that's what I'm used to hunting alone, even in ND getting birds can be challenging. We will most likely be hunting the walk-ins any advice on late season Kansas is appreciated.

North central Kansas is ok but spotty, if I were you, jump on hwy 36 and go west at least a couple more hours. Trust me it will be worth it. There will be a lot of good wiha right off the road you can jump into all along 36.

Just returned from SW Ks. and hunting was good. Needed some snow and cooler weather, but still saw birds! Good luck and have fun.:thumbsup:

This is good advice. You will work for your pheasants in NC KS, but if you prefer a combo hunt, NC KS is a pretty good place to get that done.

KB agreed a combo hunt is doable in NC KS, we managed a pretty good one opening weekend, but the further west you go the more pheasant thats for sure!

Might have to look into that, even though I wouldn't getting on a few quail without a pointy dog its not a priority. We were originally going out farther but found a place in NC and liked the idea of a few less hour drive, but getting into more birds is the reason were going.
