Hi guys. I am new to this forum. My name is Son Nguyen, I started Pheasant hunting last year. It is also my first hunting of any type. My son is who got me into trying hunting. He knows more about hunting than I do and he is only 11.

He has bagged a couple turkeys and duck. This year he will try to bag his first deer. He goes with my friends most of the time but I decided last year to get my license and start hunting with him before he grows up and start to chase girls and forget about the old man. After trying different hunts I enjoy Pheasant hunting the most.

This year picked up a brittany pup to help with the hunt. My son decides to name her Pickles. She is in traing class right now. Can not wait to get her back in a couple weeks, the boy and I miss her a lot. Hopefully this season we will get a chance to shoot more Pheasants.

Glad you got in the game it helps to be in the middle of lots of Pheasants, try being a Pheasant hunter in WI its tough. Be patient with the Britt when you get her back, even being trained it will take time and birds to get her to become a bird dog.

Welcome. Glad your son brought you along. You know my wife complained some when my sons and I would spend the weekends hunting, but I told her, "You know where we will be and it will be good." My sons developed a lifelong interest in the outdoors, fishing, hunting and habitat work and remain my best friends in this world.

I will make a plug to look at Kansas Lifetime licenses for you and your son. The best deal going, IMO.

I am more into fishing but thinking about getting a lifetime hunting and fishing for my son. He loves hunting like no other. If he got a choice he would be hunting all year round fir all species. The only bad thing with that is I don't know a lot about hunting so when I take him out we usually come back with nothing or I don't know where we can go legally. But I am trying to learn when we get to go with my friends.

My brittany is spoiled and I know that she is still young and just love seeing her try to work for the birds.

Welcome to the site. A couple of guys from pheasants forever are hunting there right now. A quick google search for public hunting in KS will point you in the right directions as far as ground goes.

Welcome to UPH, Very nice to see another wise man that uses a Brittany. You know how to the most out of your hunting trips with that dog..........Bob

Go to the KDWP website for all information about legal hunting, seasons, etc. Also, there is lots of good advice about bringing a pup along already posted in this forum.
