Motel Recommendation in Hugoton, KS

check the internet yellow pages on Hugoton motels hotels- call each and see what's available- small town- call the city office if need be

I was in the area today and only saw a couple of places. From what I saw, there should be no problem booking something with a little Internet research. I did not see any bigger chains. I believe they were local little spots.

I drove over from liberal which had a ton of hotels and it took me about 25 minutes.

On a side note, there was some great Milo in the area and you might check out the three section WIHA just south of town. I think it is 77.

Good luck!

There are basically three motels in Hugoton.

The only one I would stay at is the Flamingo. Ask for Benny and tell him a tall guy from Texas pointed to him. He is the new owner and is making an effort to freshen things up. He really likes to have hunters and the place is dog friendly.

The other two options are:
The Hagman - Never stayed there but the people are rude. It looks like a dump also.
The B&B Motel - The guy running the desk makes the ones at the Hagman look like goodwill ambassadors. He is a real jerk. I would sleep in my truck rather than give him any more of my money. The room was not that nice either.

There is a bed and breakfast there also but I have not info on it.

Thanks for the input. I am going to stay at the Flamingo. On another note, does the Wal-mart in Liberal have a large supply of pheasant loads? We typically wait to buy shells until we get up there because there is a much better selection than in Central OK.

I went and looked at the flamingo- pet freindly- can't ask for much more-
after a hard day the bird dogs will enjoy crawling up on your bed

plenty of shells at Walmart- hunter freindly- light to heavy loads

I'm used to bass pro or Cabelas, so to me the wal-mart was bare. They have your standard remington 4's or 6's and not much more.

Oh yea, no where close for dog supplies and lots of stickers. Byob (bring your own boots)

Instead of giving Walmart your business you might try Alco. I have found they stock high brass load. You can get your license there also.

You can find Alco stores in most smaller towns. Hugoton has one on the southwest side just past the High School.

I didn't know there was an Alco in Hugoton. I will have to stop by there. Thanks for the input.

There's a nice B&B on the north end of town...Shady Lane. Well run.

Disclaimer: The guy who runs it is my wife's cousin.
