McPherson area

I got an invitation to hunt some private ground in the McPherson area. From what I can tell from the Atlas it should have both pheasant and quail in that area and that was also what I was told. Does anyone else hunt that area or have any thoughts on the area? Are there motels and any good restaurants? Thanks for any input.

that area is not what i would call prime pheasant ground, probably see more quail, have fun, can't help with motels, but there should be plenty to choose from in the area.

McPherson can be a great place for a combo hunt. Used to hunt there when I was a kid, but only on public ground. The public ground can be pretty crowded (like anywhere I guess), but we always saw plenty of quail. Expect a limit of quail before pheasants unless you have some good grass to hunt. Private land hunting there could be excellent depending on the habitat you have access to.

I hunt western Mc county all the time. My job has me driving the country side. Population is up this year, seeing a lot more pretty birds than quail. Several motels on the east side of Mc city along the interstate. Good Luck!

Sounds good. We got another place to go out by Brownell. We aren't going until January. Can anyone tell me a good shot size to use when your expecting to shoot some quail. Last year I used #5 Fiochi Golden Pheasant 12 guage shells and I did shoot a few quail with those in our hunt in Nebraska.
