Looking to plan a hunt around Ellendale, ND

I never hunted in North Dakota before and would like to plan a Pheasant hunting trip in early December. I've hunted throughout South Dakota with plenty of public land to hunt. With the new electronically posted land lighting up my OnXmaps is there still ample opportunities to hunt public land around Ellendale. Not looking for someone's Hotspot. I like getting out and doing boot work. Any comments about hunting this area appreciated!

I think it is pretty far east to be in a prime area, but you may find some hot spots. Especially if you have a private land connection

plenty of birds but not a ton of public land immediately around Ellendale. West or east has more public

Did well there years ago before electronic posting. Now pretty tough. The cards have turned and now there is probably more accessible land in South Dakota. Yes you can get permission from electronic posted land, but not readily in my experience, in fact I pretty much gave up, the physical posted spots gave better results.

December can be a total loss ….. wind blows snow which can close off gravel access

Fingers crossed for a mild December. That's the time I get off work. I know it's a gamble. A couple of inches hopefully make the birds sit tighter.
