Looking for advice for SW MN

Hello all
I am planning a trip to the Marshall Area for OCt. I am looking for advice from anyone familiar with the area. Usually I just hunt WMAs and other public lands, though this there we will be hitting some WIA too.
I dont know this part of the state well, so any and all advice, be it good areas to hunt, good places to eat, heck - even good sites to see would be mostr appreciated. I will be travelling with a buddy and Louie - my constant companion and 4 legged birdie fetcher.

we hunted public land NW of Marshall last fall and saw plenty of birds. Get the MN outdoor atlas, lots of hard walking. Several waterfowl production areas were productive for our team as well. No matter what, it's a thing of beauty watching my springer work.
