Late Sring Snow North of Pratt

Hey Guys. I hunted the opener trying to get into some quail and didn't do so hot in NE kansas. I still got a spot north of Pratt and south of Great Bend near St. John. I understand by reading the upland bird report that there was a big snow storm in march that hit there. I was wanting to know if anyone has hunted in that area to testify if that really did hurt the quail numbers?

I just had a great hunt today near Larned. Two of us limited out on quail. I was surprised to see so many, the best quail numbers I had seen in years.

Hope this helps.

We were also one pheasant short of both limiting.

I saw more quail out that way than I've ever seen there as well. It's going to be a good year for quail hunting out there. Pheasant numbers aren't bad either, but I've seen better pheasant years in that area.

was that walk in cass?

Guess the kdwp report was wrong about that then. I know for a fact that they were wrong about the NE region of kansas. They boasted of substantial increases in quail populations. We only saw 1 small covey which normally is 4 or 5. Thanks for the reports guys good luck this fall.
