Last Weekend

Late report, work is h*** for me right now. Anyway headed out some place to the east of springs on Hwy 70 that is not supposed to hold many birds. Well folks either ya'll are keeping secrets or folks from Colorado cannot count. There were birds everywhere; much better than Kansas in my humble opinion. I should have brought home a limit but poor shooting and low flying birds kept me from killing any. (I will not shoot unless the bird gets at least six feet or so in the air when hunting with dogs, espeacially someone elses dogs). I did hit one managed to strap it good, or so I thought. Looked for it for 20 minutes or so and then it takes off like a road runner, literally kicking dust as it covered 100 yards before I realized what was going on and got the gun up. Also had two come up that were perfect shots but absolutely missed them no excuses.

Met some awesome folks, good to know real "Good Ol' Boys" still exist. Took my 10 yr old son as well, probably one of the best experiences he has had. Time to get him a gun as well. Amazed at how he kept up in all the thick crap and everything. He slept like a log on the way home.

Another ecclectic group of dogs too. My buds weimi, 3 labs, a GSP, and if you can believe it a rather portly Blue Heeler.

Happy Thanksgiving,

ps, did the Blue Heeler herd 'em so the GSP could point them, then the labs flush them?

That combo does sound like it could make for interesting dog theatrics...
