Last days of the season

Hey y'all, I'm headed to Kansas tomorrow with my dog to hunt the last three days of the season and could really use some guidance and wisdom from any of the experienced folks on this forum. My plan was to head up to the Hays area and work my way west towards Colby, hunting the walk ins. I hunted the Great Bend Area in November and came up with no birds so at this point I'm taking all suggestions. Not asking for specific honey holes, just some words of wisdom so I can get my dog some bird contacts and hopefully bag a few in the process. Feel free to PM me as well. Thanks.

Here is a post from the "road conditions" thread:

The roads will be fine, the bird numbers are better farther south. IMO draw a line from Great Bend to Garden City and hunt south of it. They received more rain in 15 that further north, and the birds began their rebound a year earlier. With that said there are good pockets of birds further north than than, I have been in a few.

I think you have the right idea, if you don't find birds in a certain area, move along. I will be out starting tomorrow and will try a couple new areas. Just got permission two weekends ago and the private spots look promising. So far, nobody has hunted these locations yet this year since they are posted.

Advice from an out of stater that hit the WIHAs for a week, a few weeks back. I didnt find many birds from wakeeney to hays huntig mainly south of those areas. I did go north and west a county and should have limited out 3 straight days. A retired couple from michigan got their 16 phez limit in 5 days, between colby and wakeeney. I got into healthy amount of birds 45 miles north of there myself. They are pocketed, id let my pup hunt into the wind for 10-15 min and if she didnt get birdy hit another area. Oh and dont forget a full choke! I would have only got half my birds if I didnt bring one along, the roosters know the game by now.
