Lab with instinct, needs training

I have an older lab that I have used some to dove hunt with. She loves to hunt and has a great nose. I have introduced her to different sents and had her trail various wings, always with success. Problem: she likes to hunt far out. How do I get her to hunt close? Looking to start using at a few preserves here in VA for pheasant, quail, chukkar.

Since you are actualy are training the dog instead of just dumping it out in the field expecting things to majicly work.
Simply 1/4 the dog in your training field and don't plant birds. Have your gunner's roll them in or you can roll them in too, don't let her see you. When she is getting out stick one down and call her in and cast her over there to find it. If you do that enough she will start to think you know where the birds are, and hunt for you, not herself. That useualy works, if not some collar training may help. But this is positive and most of the time works. If they get to where they hunt too close go back to planting, you can go back and fourth with this to help with both, planting invites the dog to run bigger, and rolling gets them to find birds close.
