Kansas wheat crop

I heard the crop west of hays ain't doing to well and that's the stronghold for pheasants, but in central ks around McPherson it's better I have been seeing pheasants every time I go in the country... but it's gonna be a late harvest which could be a good thing more time for pheasants to get chicks reared...how is it around your area

starting to look pretty good in n. w. kansas, at least it is now green and not yellow, and growing. harvest will surely be late which should help off set lasts years really early harvest, heard the crop was estimated to be off 25% but now think that is out of date and will be better than that

cheers

Hopefully the freeze just slows the Wheat down and does not damage it. I have heard it is jointed, so freeze could hurt. Heard in OK it was heading out and took a hit from the cold(freeze). If Kansas gets the moisture that is still needed, Harvest time may be real late. Still need good moisture for there to be a fall harvest. I would hate making a decision on planting Fall crop this year. Good luck everyone.

Total freeze out of my wheat crop is a very real possibility. will know in the next few weeks. Some wheat has already been abandoned and sprayed with Round Up.

How has this year been compared to last year around the dodge city area? In regards to precipitation?

sorry to hear that. in my part of n. w. kansas, farmer brown has been really worried about the yellow wheat but last week, at least to me, was looking good, fields were really green and i could see the growth, saw some grasshoppers also, he hates them but they are serious bird food, can't have everything i tell him. this area is not great pheasant country but i do see them every day along with 3 quail last week. right now it is turkey on the brain

cheers
