Kansas / Mo quail outlook

Howdy....
Like most of us....I'm probably going to forgo my annual trip to NC Kansas this year due to extreme drought. My friends said it looks rather bleak in their area.
Most all of CRP and pastures bailed and crops destroyed.

Anyway.....I going to re-trench and try some new ground in MO and SEK.
Have my yr old Llew setter "Trigger" that i want to introduce to prairie birds.

What are the reports from SEK?

It was just as bad in SEK this year and worse last year. I will hunt one day with friends from high school, probably won't need shells though.

Grew up in SEK, now live in SWMO. We don't even bother quail hunting around here anymore, unless it is just to get of the house for a walk. Yeah, there are a few birds around, but it is very very few, a lot of miles between points for sure.

Sad deal about the quail pops in SEK. I had relatives down there that owned quite a bit of land and would always go a couple of times a year to get together and quail hunt. We always shot quite a few birds but towards the end of there era of land ownership the birds really dwindled and that was in the early to mid 90's.
