Just Attended my First Event...

Well, as the title says, I just attended my first dog-training event over this past weekend. I went to an NSTRA event that took place over Saturday and Sunday and met some fantastic guys and made some fast friends!
While I have no intention of working my dogs in an NSTRA competition, due to funding and so forth, I will be joining the local Gun Dog Club that I met many members of. The input and the information that I've already gained from them is invaluable. One guy from the local club told me that he'd be willing to come to me and help me work and train my Weimaraner. This was one of the guys that everyone else said would be a fountain of knowledge when it comes to dog training!
The local club is holding a fun-shoot in a little less than two weeks that I'll be working two of my dogs in! I can't wait to get my two experienced dogs in the field again. It'll be an opportunity to hunt at a time when the season is closed!

Glad you had a good time elijah,NSTRA has alot of good people and dog trainers involved in their clubs.Good luck at the fun shoot!

Thanks for the well-wishes ROCK, I'll need them. I'm planning on working a dog that I haven't hunted in a few years, so I'm a little on edge about it. She's pretty old and was subjected to quite a bit of abuse before we got her, so I'm afraid she might shut down in the middle of it, or before we even get started!

Hats off to you for taking her out.I had a dog that even though she was 16 years old, always came with me as I trained my younger dog.I always put a couple of birds out for her and though she never broke a trot in the field still love to point and retrieve birds.Always brought a big smile to my face watching her.Moral of the story is,hunting dogs love to hunt, just go out and have fun,I bet she'll do fine.
