Anybody having any luck in the Cortland area. I'm coming to the area early January. I've had good luck there in the past. I'm just wondering what to expect.
 
I hunted the Jewell area three weeks ago on a farm that I hunted last year. The cover was better this year than last, but I saw fewer birds. It was colder last year and maybe the birds were bunched up a little more. I'm still going back in a couple of weeks.
 
I just talked to a friend whose family farm is near Concordia. He had a couple really good hunts while there was snow on the ground to bunch the birds up. He thought maybe the numbers were down a little bit, but with the right weather, the hunting should be spectacular.

Hope your trip doesn't take place during one of the hot/windy weather days. Having the right weather has made all the difference in my hunts this year.
 
Thanks for the info. This is my tenth year hunting Kansas. The hunting has always been good but the local people have made this trip spectacular.
