Is it really gonna...

SNOW? Looks like the forecast folks have decided there's a pretty good chance for snow in SW KS over the next 48 hours. For those living out there, what are the local weather people saying?

Sure would be nice if it would. Even if we don't have accumulation to work with this w/e, at least we'll have some moisture on the ground:)

60 percent chance but not much accumulation maybe an inch. The greatest chance is south of a line from Johnson to Liberal.

I was going thru some of my pictures- my female I had out in that blizzard we had a few years back- some places you could hardly see her back-

sure would like to see some decent snow- cover these dang burrs

you going to be out if it snows

I was holed up in Guymon, OK. for four days last season during that big storm. North of Guymon the roads were good and so was the pheasant hunting. But, heading south, everything was closed, including highway 54. Sure cleaned up on some nice hunting during that week.

Bilbo, What a bad break getting stuck in a snowstorm in pheasant country when the hunting is good. Wish I could have some of that BAD luck.:)

Yes Nick, that was a bad break but someone has to do the dirty work. It was sort of a pheasant hunter's dream come true.

I thought I was the king of pheasant hunting the first time I took a trip by myself. At daylight the first day of my hunt it started snowing. Got a good 4 inches or so on the ground in no time. The rest of the trip I was having to kick pheasants out from under tumbleweeds to get them to fly. My dog pulled out 5 or 6 live hens from under tumbleweeds, and a few quail and cottontails. Probably the greatest trip of my life. I was quickly humbled on my next trip... wasn't quite so easy!

Sounds like a great trip. When I was in high school my dad and I went out to Norton for a weekend. We had a farmer out there that took real good care of us. We hunted real hard on Saturday with very little success, so we decided we wouldn't worry about getting up at the crack of dawn on Sunday. All of a sudden we wake up to the motel phone ringing. Farmer's wife on the phone saying he's waiting on us and to look out the motel window. About 6 inches of fresh snow had fallen over night. Sunday was one of those days where the Hunting Gods smiled on us. Good memories.:)

it snowed- 1/4" maybe- melted when the sun came up- sort of some light rain for a bit-

but heck- the ground was wet- which we haven't seen in a long time-
so we went out this morning- 28 degrees- some wind- ahhh don't need to carry water- glad to say the Britt's enjoyed- they moved pretty darn good in the cool conditions- muddy a bit from the knees down- actually looked like they hunted

1/2 way into the field- here comes a tractor, with disc setup and chlorine tank behind- discs and spray- ahh the pheasants were jumpy- but we had fun

found a covey of quail in a corner- played with them- didn't shoot- got the two other Britt's out- found them again- didn't shoot-

don't consider it a bad time- never fired a shell in that field

"1/4 inch"
...:( I guess it probably isn't going to 'hold' till Monday, when I can get out...
