Iowa state senator wants state to buy 9 MN counties

Republican Iowa state senator Mike Bousselot says he plans to introduce a bill in the Iowa Legislature to purchase nine southern Minnesota counties that border the Hawkeye state.

For those in the line of fire, my condolences. Look on the bright side. You'll get to start the hunting day sooner (and end sooner), and bag 3 roosters all season, and keep more in your freezer. I'm sure that will more than make up for the ridicule and self loathing of living in the Hawkeye State.

Rumor has it this move will raise the average IQ of both states. Win-Win.

State government will make you lose your faith in representative democracy. Every one of them I have had the displeasure of interacting with has been a collection of dorks, losers, imbeciles and manchildren. Glad to see Iowa also does not send its best minds to the statehouse.

I'm good. That area is the land of rocks and crows.

However, I could avoid the hefty lottery-drawn application and license fees they require nonresidents to hunt deer. Would save a guy about 500 bucks each season. And I could hunt pheasants an extra 10 days in January too.

My understanding here is that both states would have to agree to it, and Congress needs to approve it.
