Iowa Public Trip

I am thinking of planning a last minute trip to hunt Iowa public land with my GSP and Pudelpointer in November. I have previously hunted both South Dakota and Southwest Nebraska but it seems the pheasant numbers in Iowa have been better the last few years and it’s closer from my home on the east coast. Looking for recommendations for best time in November to hunt public in Iowa. I will not be able to hunt the first part of November/Opener but most other weeks in November are possible. Is the Northwest part of the state the best area to focus on? Any other tips or suggestions for hunting public land in Iowa for a first timer in the state?

Only thing I would look out for is when IA has there deer season. Most public spots in IA that has even 2-3 trees will have deer hunters on it. I would avoid those weeks just to free up access for you.

Corn is coming out fast. Id say as soon as you can. I think the farmers almanac said this winter could be a big one so you never know when all that crp will be conpletely shut down
I dont know if they do roadside counts anymore but I think far northwest/northcentral has historically been the top. I know theres a ton of public around the is great lakes, but do does everyone else with a map.
