Iowa County Youth and Beginners Hunt

The Iowa County Pheasants Forever Chapter is hosting our annual youth and beginners hunt on October 11, 2014 at Safari Iowa. This event is open to all area youth and anyone who would like to try upland hunting for the first time. We begin with a mandatory safety session before taking to the fields in small groups to bag some birds. Lunch, birds and guides are provided at no cost to the participants. All hunters 16 and older must have taken a hunter's education course.

If you know any local youth who need a chance to get on some birds - send them our way. This is a great chance to give upland hunting a try before youth season opens.

We are anticipating a large turnout this year and expect the limiting factor to be the number of dogs we have available. If you would like to help guide a small group, this is a great chance to get your dogs out and put up some birds. In addition to a dog handler, each group will include parents and board members to supervise each youth. Safety is our #1 priority.

We had a great turnout for our event on Saturday -- 25 participants, perfect weather and lots of stellar dog work. I personally saw 4 first roosters harvested which was awesome! Here's a couple of pictures. The big 'first rooster grins' will be on our website as soon as I have time to upload pictures. Thanks again to all of you who support us throughout the year.
