Dont matter where you are from or where you are going to be hunting....folks, watch that slough ice! I live in NW Minnesota and we've been below freezing 24 hrs a day for two weeks now. Today on a short hunt I went thru the ice three different times. If there is any moving water at all, you are going in for certain. All these sloughs are fed by springs, creeks, or colverts, they all have moving water at someplace within their perimeter. Please use caution and common sense when you are hunting the sloughs. A Pheasant isnt worth the dangers of thin ice. Please be careful.

Yes, and they are deep this year. Musk rat houses are to be avoided too. I am venturing out on a couple this weekend, but I know where to walk on them.
And with the temps we will have it can get serious in a hurry. I like to walk the open water edge and let the dog work inside, seems I stay dryer that way.
