I want to buy a new choke

I have an Maverick Over and Under with screw in chokes and I want to get a full choke screw in. I was wondering if gander mountain allows you to bring your gun in to make sure I can get the right choke? Is gander mountain the best place to get a choke? This is my first Over and Under so any help would be great.

Dan

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Gander mountain is not far from my house I was wonder if other places had better pricing.

Can I ask why you want a full choke? On the suggestion of a very good shot/hunter I switched choke tubes to a skeet and improved cylinder on my o/u and have been very pleased with the results, even late in the season where shots may be further out.

I have an improved cylinder and a modified and felt like the improve cylinder wounded more birds in stead of killing them. I was thinking of making my first shot modified my first shot and the full my second shot.

I can understand what you're thinking, but in most hunting scenarios if you square hit a rooster with a full choke you'll be picking a lot of shot from the meat. Also keep on mind a full choke is the tightest pattern so if you're off a bit you won't touch the bird. Kind of the same reason my first shot is z skeet tube and second is the imp cyl. That gives me more spread and increases my odds to connect on the bird.

You might consider dropping down on shot size so although there are less pellets in a shell, each piece of shot is a little bigger for better penetration and shock value. Just a thought.....

Thanks for the info. See from the age 12 till Noé I have aways shot a full choke and yes picking stuff puf the Bird sucks so i might leave my chokes like they are and just switch to 4 shot instead of 6
