I missed hunting this past weekend

Didn't get out this past weekend. Hoping to get a little hunt in before the retriever clubs Xmas party Saturday evening. If not I will for sure be out Sunday!

I'm hoping that is the only weekend I don't get to go this year barring any sickness like I had last year where I missed 8 of the 10 days I was off work for the Xmas holiday. That was a real kick in the you know whats. I've got several new spots I have yet to turn a dog loose on and they are supposed to have birds.

I've got 11 days off this year and have at least one trip out west planned and the rest will be spent on the old as well as new spots along with some duck and goose hunting.

Anyone else have extended time off over Christmas time frame?

I hunted about four hours Sun., mostly driving around looking at walk-in in northern Flint Hills. Hoping for some quail. Got out for three walks - just walks, no birds. Great conditions - high 30s, damp and overcast - made the dog very happy. Then started raining, began thinking about the meal I was going to prepare, so headed home for a nice cocktail and some good pasta. All in all, better than hanging around the house.

I get out and hunt something every weekend. Spend quite a few weekends hunting pheasants on Saturday and geese on Sunday, thank God I got an understanding wife. I've spent more time than ever before hunting geese this season and really enjoy it because I can take my 6 year old boy with me.

Will sit in the deer blind this Saturday and will goose or pheasant hunt on Sunday. Got two weeks off for Christmas break and planning on hunting as much as the wife will allow. Love the winter time!
