I usually hunt north of the interstate from Plankinton to White Lake then north to Miller. I usually have pretty good luck. Has anyone done much hunting south of the interstate in this area, and how have you done? Thanks!
Yeah, south of White Lake and that whole area can get a little thin on public land and unmowed ditches. For some reason ditches seem to be mowed on the south side--more so than on the north.
I can PM you a good area (south of where you hunt) but you'll need a number of other hunters with you to work the field. The birds always flush in waves, just out of gun range so you have to corral them into a certain section of the field. Though, the last time I hunted it there was a string of drier years so hen pheasants had a very large area to nest/brood their young. I'm not sure how good it is now that the pot-holes are filled with water again.
