Hey everybody,
I'm thinking about moving to the Denver area and was wondering what suburb would allow the most and best access to good hunting and fishing. Thanks!

I cannot answer you question, but I would like to welcome you to UPH. I hope we see you around here posting often........Bob

Welcome, hope you get some help.

Why Colorado, any particular reason? For me it would be SD or ND as both offer great hunting and fishing. Then again the winters can be long....:(

I work in the IT field in Dallas and the only place that I know of where I can make a decent living, and live near the mountains is the Denver area...unless I want to move to Alaska or another country.

As far as the weather, I HATE the heat and love the cold. I grew up in Texas and served in the desert for 4 years in the Army in the Southern end of Death Valley and I haven't had AC in years. I'm about as sick and tired of the heat as a guy can be. I'm ready for some cooler weather.

Welcome kellyash to uph. I'm sure the great people from colorado, on this site , will give insite, to your question. :)

Welcome to the site. If you want to hunt and fish in the mountains (big game, dusky grouse, turkey, trout), pick a town or county on the west side of the metro area. Lakeside, Golden, Wheatridge, Boulder, Broomfield, Evergreen and Jefferson County in general are closer. If you want to hunt and fish on the plains (pheasant, quail, turkey, bass) pick a town or a county on the east side.

although traffic can't be as bad in Denver as compared to DFW, you may want to consider the commute situation too...i don't know about you, but i spend more time driving to work than i do driving to hunt/fish....but then you probably work remotely from the 'puter anyway...good luck!

I work in the structured cabling side of networking, phones, CCTV, PA systems, retail POS systems, etc so I drive all over the place during the day going from service call to service call unless I'm on a bigger install. This makes traffic important. Coming from Dallas, Denver traffic should be much easier to handle. Driving in Dallas traffic isn't too much different than Mexico's traffic; no turn signals cause if you do you will be cut off by anyone that can see it; people drive 55 mph in the left hand "passing lane" while everyone else is doing 75 mph; the middle finger means "Welcome to Dallas". The whole place is just rediculous and I want to move somethin fierce.

KellyAsh, it depends on what you are looking for! High pace or quiet community! Price comes into factor as well! The hills are close all up and down the front range! I have not traveled West on I-70 in 20 years cause of the traffic. There are are kinds of little communities that have the small town feel! But are on the out skirts of the city!!! Louisville, Laffeyette, Erie, Mead, Johnstown, Loveland, to the North. Highlands ranch, Parker, Castle Rock to the south. Some of these are fairly Large and some smaller , all seem to be Quality places to live!!!!

I'm looking for a slower pace, out of the way, and more ready access to the outdoors, than what Dallas, or it's suburbs, can offer. I will probably end up dragging a park model trailer up there and staying in a little RV park until I find a better place. I found one I think I'd like up in Erie called B&B Mobile & RV Park up off of 52/Mineral Rd/Coutny Rd 12 1/2. It seems to be out of the way and quiet.
