Help needed to find Pheasant research sites

KDWPT is working with KSU to do a research project to evaluate pheasant use of spring planted cover crops. The plan is to have two field sites in the central part of the state and 2 in the north west. The cooperator that we had been planning to work with for the central part of the state didn't work out because of the amount of cover crops they had planned for this year was far less then what we needed. We are looking for 2 sites 160 acres each, that will be or are willing to use spring planted cover crop. We are using 4 treatments, 3 cover crop mixes and a control. Sites don't necessarily have to be contiguous 1/4 sections as long as fields are relatively close such as across the road or within the section etc. We are providing all the seed for the project.

If you or anyone you know might be interested in working with us on this project we would appreciate helping us make contact. You can respond here, send PM, or contact the Hays regional office for more details 785-628-8614.

This project has been delayed 3 years now. If we do not identify a new research site by Dec. 15th we risk delaying the project another year. Thank you all for your help in this effort to improve our understanding and recommendations for pheasant habitat.
