Help-Dodge City or Great Bend?

Been up in SD for a while living in a fifth wheel. Had the pleasure of hunting the area around Mobridge for some time. Need to be back to Texas for work around Jan 1. Decided to make the move earlly and head south because its gettin damn cold up here and its supposed to be -15F on Monday night with a daytime high of -4F.Looking to head into KS and do some hunting on Public WIA. The reports on this site haven't looked too good. Don't mind working for birds thats part of the experience but would like some suggestions since I've never been down that way before.

Made a trip out towards the great bend area the weekend before Thanksgiving and saw plenty of pheasants and a few coveys of quail each day. Our hunting was split 50% private land and 50% WIHA.

This website is great. Folks wiliing to help out others whom enjoy the outdoors and want to venture to new areas but don't know where to stay, eat and most of all hunt.
