Hello, I found this forum while looking for information on Kansas pheasant hunting. I have been reading all the information on the forum & enjoy & appreciate all that I've read. I thought I would join & add my recent Kansas experience & hope to contribute in the future.
I have been bird hunting (dove, duck, geese, & quail) in south Texas since I was a teen. Now married, two kids & work keeps me busier than I would like but I still get out as much as I can.
Now for the fun... I am fortunate enough to have a father-in-law that I genuinely enjoy spending time with & he and his brother own farm land in NW Kansas. It had been about 7 yrs. since he had been up to Kansas & I had never been, so we decided it was time to check out. We planned for the pheasant opener & I started reading everything I could find about Kansas pheasants. This was going to be my first pheasant hunt & I tried to learn as much as I could. My father, my father-in-law, his brother, the brother's two sons & I made the trip from south Texas. We hunted the opener & a couple of days after. We shot a few birds & had a great time together, but I will say that we needed a dog. The cover was good enough that birds were in the field & we never saw them, just heard them. It was a good experience & I'm looking forward to trying it again next year.
