Heading to KS

Got an invite to Kansas for the opener. Looks to be warm on Sat then cooler on Sun and Mon. There will be five of us and four dogs. I can't wait to see some dog work and maybe do some shooting.

Next weekend will be looking for some Flagler stragglers on private land. Who knows what the rest of the season holds. My hunting partner is headed for surgery on the 19th of Dec and will be out of commission for the rest of the season.

On a side note I found some sort of front range grouse in an area I never expected to see them. I was out helping my buddy scout for Muleys a few weeks ago before the stones hit and stumbled on them. Had the scatter gun along because the area looked like it would hold lots of bunnies and well I bagged one limit and a few singles over three days. Also got some bunnies. Fine eating grilled grouse and bunny fajitas.

keep us posted on your hunt out in Kansas! Congrats on the Grouse!!

Well it is was a "Good 'Urn". Few roosters some fields were loaded, most were not. Very few hunters out compared to the circus I was expecting. I wound up with a limit the first day and one more bird the next. What the roosters lacked the quail more than made up for. 15 bobs on the weekend and 9 bonus bunnies when the dogs were put up.

Had a motley crew of dogs. 1 vizla, 1 english setter, 1 GSP, and 1 Weimi. GSP was young and stupid but the rest of the dogs were awseome espeacially the vizla. Can't blame the dogs too much them roosters had track shooes on and did not want to hold. Quail on the other hand busted at your feet.

Can't wait to get out again tomorrow!!!
