fortunate enough to have a lot of hunting oppurtunity is a blessing. Time is precious and i waste a lot of it according to guys who want to shoot birds. I havent bowhunted or gunhunted deer for a couple years. Or anything else for that matter. Spent a lot of time locating quail instead. Had a great year by my standards,'which are low'. Hunted alot, killed few. Only got skunked in Missouri once, maybe, this year. Averaged ten miles a day walking though. loved every minute and so did the dogs. Biggest day for shooting was 6 birds. Had some rough times in Kansas also. Thank god for south Dakota. All in all i wouldnt trade this season for anything. Had what i consider a cull dog with no talent flip the switch. That makes it worth it. Sorry to ramble. Just hate to see another season go.

Good to hear someone had a decent year. This has been by far the worse season I have ever had, the few covies we did find we didn't even shoot into them hoping it would increase breeder pairs for this spring! Looking into buying some flight conditioned quail to place on the farm for the dogs to be able to get some work.

Any day hunting/ watching the dog work beats the holy heck out of working. There was good days and less good days but I tried this year to judge my hunts more on the experience than the bird count. Hoping for a good hatching season this year, especially in MO and NE kansas. I'm hoping to take the dog to another preserve here in the next month with the wife. She went with me the day before christmas and loved it (waiting for some snow).
