I just saw where Garmin has come out with a beeper for the 25 and 20 collars. Downfall is this add on is 249 bucks. Anyone thinking about adding one to their garmin collars? I had thoughts of getting one until i saw the price. The location of the beeper would be under the dogs throat so not sure how the sound would project. I also wonder what the beeper tone sounds like and if it would be to similar to beep tone on the 25 and confuse the dog to recall when on point. Positive is you can program it beep when the dog goes on point. Thoughts?

I did try out a beeper collar some time ago and I did not condition my dogs on a beeper collars as pups. The dogs would break point when the beeper went off. I use the tone function for a recall on my GPS and Training Gamins and that works well for me. The tone mimics the whistle. But sometimes, the dogs go on point in heavy cover (cattails, switch, big blue stem etc.) and the GPS is not so accurate to pinpoint exact location. I have had the dogs 20 feet from me and still can't find them. I think a beeper would help with that. But, trying to call back a dog in heavy cover with a beeper or tone does not work, I see this all the time with new handlers, because the handler can locate the dog, but the dog can't locate the handler. That is when a whistle is best.

All the cover here is tall and thick. Glasses are must just to protect your eyes. Dog can be just a few feet away and you can’t see them, especially the brown ones. Still can’t understand the short tail on a bird dog. Many times it’s the only thing I can see on my Setter. GPS collar has been a game changer
