I am looking into hunting near the Gackle, North Dakota area. Anyone have any experience here? If so, whats the numbers and habitat like?

East and South of Bismarck, you will find some birds. Is it the best of the best as far as ND goes, no. Will you still find birds and have a blast, absolutely. It's in the prairie pothole region, so you will find alot of small sloughs, potholes...etc. This will consist of water ranging from an acre in size to 10 acres in size. Cattails along with other vegetations that grow near water is your common hunting. There are some CRP fields and grassy areas. Nothing wrong with this area and I'm sure you won't regret going. Best of luck.

I have buddies that Hunt in that area all the time. they do fine. There is a lot of cattail hunting, and they are always complaining about how hard the walking is. If you made me choose, I would choose Lintn, but you will have a great time, and see birds, in either place. Now if you are going in December I might say hunt the cattails.
